Ten years ago today, I was a 12-year-old girl.

It was the beginning of my seventh grade year.

Ten years ago today, I remember being

dropped of at school by my Gramma.

As soon as I got out of the car,

I heard my friends talking about what happened.

Ten years ago today, I was very confused.

I remember going home from school that day and

watching the news [Our teachers had been instructed

to not let us watch the news] & wondering

how could this have happened?

Was the pilot confused?

Did he go the wrong way?

Was he flying too low?

Ten years ago today, I couldn't fathom

that someone had done this on purpose.

Why would anyone intentionally hurt other people?

I'm a lot older now and a whole lot less naive,

but I still don't understand people intentionally

hurting other people - it's unfathomable to me.

May we never forget -

the victimes of these tragic incidents,

the heroes that saved lives,

& the way we felt on that infamous day.

Never forget.

Fruits of Our Labor

In light of this past weekend's holiday,

I thought I should share some updates.

Soon, I'll post more detailed posts about each project.

For now: the four month update.

[I'm embarassed it's been that long,

but our schedule & budget got in the way.]

Things aren't complete and they're far from perfect,

but I'm absolutely loving the progress thus far.

 Jacob has been LOVING the tomatoes from his plant.

 All of our plants have more than doubled in size.

The dining room (including the placemats I made).

 New buffet!

 New couch!

 New bedroom furniture!

 New toy!

 New shower curtain!

Missing in Action

Friends, I'm here to update you.

Although, I don't have a lot to say.

Nor do I have an explanation for abandoning

my poor little blog.

But I will say...

I have some very exciting and fun posts coming up soon.

So get excited. :)

Sleepover!

 We had my nephews [Douglas in the middle, Fletcher on the

right] over for a [first] sleepover this weekend.

Let me tell you, a good time was had by all!

 I made Sugar Cookie Cupcakes [replaced the Very Vanilla

Frosing with Cream Cheese Frosing from the same site].

 In the morning, I made homemade waffles.

 [I dared not take a picture of the bedroom, where they

played most of the evening/morning & destroyed]

 We'll definitely be doing more of this soon!

Engagement/Family Photos

I've been meaning to share these for a long time.

Indoor Planter

The first time I saw this condo, I immediately envisioned

an indoor planter in the dining room window.

It had a perfect deep sill for it.

Finally, a couple of weeks ago, the boy and I got to work.

 All of the measurements were based on our window sill

& we added a cute trim for character.

 We drilled holes in the bottom for drainage.

[And were told too late we should have lined the

wood planter with something, oh well.]

 Here is how our precious planter started.

 [I plan to paint the outside, I'm just not sure yet

where I'm headed with it.]

 Now, about two weeks later, it looks like this:

I wish I had taken a picture on day 1 straight ahead like

this one, so it would be easier to tell how marvelously

these green babies are growing.

Nonetheless, they're doing perfect thus far!

I only hope it continues!

Soccer

I've clearly been slackin' on the bloggin' front, but

Jacob's soccer season ended a few weeks ago.

It was something new for him & he really enjoyed it.

In his last game, he really seemed to catch on to what he

was supposed to be doing, too.

[That's irony for ya.]

He and Dougie [my nephew] played together,

which made it even more fun.

 [This cracks me up.]

 Good job, buddy!

Now, go back to your team & coach.

 How precious are they?!

 Because it was their last game, the coach had

a party afterward at his house.

 Dougie + Jacob = BFFs
